These 5th grade students in Mrs. Young's homeroom are riding the wave of success with School Breakfast! When the school week gets busy, it’s easy for students to rush out the door in the morning without breakfast! That’s why school breakfast is such a great option! In fact, students who participate in school breakfast tend to have better school attendance, better behavior, and better grades! So, choose a nutritious school breakfast with a healthy grain, fruit, and dairy every day!

Congratulations to Van Buren County Middle/High School, who was named a Reward School for the 2022–23 School Year. The Van Buren Co. Middle/High School was designated a Reward School due to their overall exemplary performance in achievement and improvement. This designation would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and staff. Again, congratulations on being a Reward School!

Van Buren County Schools Families, This morning, a report was submitted through the StopIt reporting app that indicated that a student "had a gun." This prompted our internal safety team and administration to immediately place the campus on lockdown. The investigation revealed that a student had made a comment about having a gun in a joking manner. Another student overheard this statement, did the right thing, and reported it. Fortunately, there was never a real threat to student or staff safety and the regular school day resumed shortly after. Parents and families, please join our efforts in talking with your students about appropriate conversations. Safety is of utmost importance and not something to be taken lightly. We must all use our words wisely and in a manner that builds a safe learning environment. Thank you to our students and staff for responding to the situation and taking it seriously. Thank you to our families for your concern and for the love you show our students each day. We are blessed to live in this community. Jared Copeland Director of Schools

February marks the month-long celebration of Love the Bus, a time to show gratitude towards the dedicated professionals who ensure the safety of students on their journey to and from school. This initiative is a meaningful way to recognize the diverse group of individuals who make the yellow school bus experience possible for students. Van Buren County Schools would like to take this time to thank each one of our bus drivers, transportation maintenance, and Supervisor of Transportation who work tirelessly every day to ensure our students make it to and from school safely. Thank you!

After weeks of spotty weather, fourth and fifth grade students are finally getting to deliver the collected donations for residents at Generations Nursing Home. Masks are hiding some big grins that go from ear to ear! It's really hard to tell who has enjoyed these visits more, the students or the residents! Thank you to everyone who donated items for this great service learning project!
