Our 5th grade students had an exciting time participating in the “Escape the Vape” activity with Ms. Ashley Al-Hasan from the Department of Health! 🧩✨
Students worked together to read clues, solve puzzles, and collaborate as teams to figure out how to escape the vape! They also received goody bags filled with helpful information for both students and parents about the harmful effects of vaping and nicotine use.
A huge thank you to Ms. Ashley and the Department of Health for being such awesome partners in our school’s drug prevention efforts — which often begin with educating students about vaping. 💙

As part of their Plants Knowledge Unit, students learned all about pollination — how bees, butterflies, and other pollinators help flowers grow and make new plants! 🌸
Through hands-on activities and fun discussions, these young scientists discovered the important role pollinators play in nature. 🌻💛
We love seeing curiosity bloom in Mrs. Monica’s classroom! 🌿✨

Ms. Beth’s 3rd graders have been diving into plant life cycles and learning all about the internal and external structures of plants — and what better way to explore than with pumpkins!
Thanks to local farmer Cole Delong, who generously donated 60 pumpkins, our students rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on STEM Pumpkin Investigation! 🧪 They weighed, measured, and examined the insides of their pumpkins — and even competed to guess how many seeds were inside a mini pumpkin (with three lucky prize winners! 🏆).
To wrap up the day, they showed off their creativity by painting their pumpkins and taking them home. It was a spooktacular mix of science and Halloween fun! 👩🔬🎨👻

This week, we’re celebrating National School Psychology Week (November 3–7) by recognizing our amazing School Psychologist, Monica Sullivan! 💙
Ms. Monica plays such an important role in helping our students succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally. She conducts evaluations, takes part in IEP meetings, and works closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to support students’ academic, behavioral, and mental health needs. She also helps implement interventions, interpret data, and promote a positive, supportive learning environment for all students.
Thank you, Ms. Monica, for everything you do to make a difference each and every day! 💛

Just a friendly reminder from Van Buren County Schools: Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2, 2025 — at 2:00 a.m., clocks will roll back one hour.
That means:
✅ You get one extra hour of sleep!
✅ Mornings will be a bit brighter — but the sun will set earlier.
Helpful tips for families & students:
🕑Consider setting your clocks back before you go to bed Saturday night to avoid confusion Sunday morning.
🌞With earlier evenings, it’s a great time to remind kids about safety: more daylight in the morning means better visibility.
🚨Since the change affects all of us — not just school schedules — it’s a good moment to check that smoke alarms and other safety devices are working properly.
Thanks for staying on schedule and helping our school community transition smoothly! 🌟
