2️⃣ **August 2nd:** New Student Registration from 8 AM to 9 AM.
3️⃣ **August 5th:** Open House and School Supply Giveaway from 4 PM to 6 PM.
4️⃣ **August 8th:** First Day of School for Students (Kindergarten and Pre-K follow Phase In Schedule).
5️⃣ **August 9th:** Back to School Splash at Fall Creek Falls State Park Swimming Pool from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

The Van Buren County School System is currently accepting applications for the following position: Educational Assistant (PreK/SES). Applications will be received by Jared Copeland, Director of Schools. Applications will be accepted until until the position(s) is filled. All Van Buren County Schools and Offices will be closed the week of July 1st- July 5th.

Summer Feeding 2024- Those who have signed up to pick up food on Fridays during the Summer Feeding Program, will need to pick it up from the back parking lot of Van Buren County High School. The food will be loaded from the High School Cafeteria Loading Dock. If you have not signed up for Summer Feeding there is still time. It is open to all children in Van Buren Co. between the ages of 0-18 years old. The Summer Feeding Program will run from June 3rd to June 27th. The program will also possibly run from July 8th to July 19th depending on participation. Are you looking for something for Elementary School Kids to do this Summer? Sign them up for the "Tennessee Kids Serve Summer Challenge." The challenge is open to PreK-5th Grade Students and is open from June 1st to August 1st. This a challenge by Tennessee's First Lady Maria Lee for students to use a small portion of their Summer Break to serve others. Countdown to Summer: Thursday, May 23rd will be an Abbreviated School Day from 8 AM to 9 AM. Buses will not run on this date. Students will be able to pick up their report cards on this date from 8 AM to 9 AM at both Spencer Elementary and Van Buren County High School.

Countdown to Summer: Report Cards will be available for pick up on Thursday, May 23rd from 8:00 AM-9:00 AM at each school. If your child has any holds such as Library fees, missing textbooks, unreturned sports uniforms. unpaid lunchroom fees, etc. Your child will not be able to pick up their Report Card until all holds have been taken care of. VB Families: A letter was sent home with students regarding the SummerEBT program. The link in the letter and on the original text would not allow some users access. The updated/correct link is onedhs.tn.gov/parent. The portal opened today, May 20th for those who do not already receive benefits to sign up to receive benefits potentially. Thank you!

Middle School boys basketball tryouts will be Monday, May 20th, 3:00 to 4:30. Tryouts are for boys who will be in 6th-8th grade next year. Tryouts will be at the high school gym. Pickup will be in the back parking lot.

Your child or children in your household may be eligible for a new program called Van Buren County Summer EBT/SUN Bucks. If your child/children currently receive government benefits your child will automatically be enrolled. If your child/children does not currently receive benefits you can apply for the Summer EBT as onedhs.tn.gov starting May 20th. Thank you!


The Van Buren County Board of Education held its monthly meeting tonight. During this meeting three employees who are retiring at the end of the 2023-24 school year were honored. The three staff members include Susan Blankenship (VBHS Librarian), Pennie Shrum (6th Grade ELA Teacher), and Barbara Cunningham (Pre-K Paraprofessional). Good Evening! This is to inform you of an update to the May Calendar of Events. Van Buren Co. Schools had planned on having Professional Development Days on May 21st and May 22nd to use the remainder of stockpile days. Due to the use of Stockpile days last week for Inclement Weather, these days will now operate as Regular Instructional Days Thank You!


Reminder that Middle School girls basketball tryouts are tomorrow, Monday, May 13th, 3:00 to 4:30. Tryouts will be at the high school gym. You must wear proper attire (sport shorts, tennis shoes, etc.)
