VB Families: A letter was sent home with students regarding the SummerEBT program. Your child or children in your household may be eligible for a new program called Van Buren County Summer EBT/SUN Bucks. If your child/children currently receive government benefits your child will automatically be enrolled. If your child/children does not currently receive benefits you can apply for the Summer EBT as onedhs.tn.gov starting May 20th. Thank you!
The Van Buren County Board of Education held its monthly meeting tonight. During this meeting three employees who are retiring at the end of the 2023-24 school year were honored. The three staff members include Susan Blankenship (VBHS Librarian), Pennie Shrum (6th Grade ELA Teacher), and Barbara Cunningham (Pre-K Paraprofessional). Good Afternoon! The Van Buren County Schools Nutrition Department will be offering the Summer Feeding Program again this year. The program will run from June 3rd to June 27th with 5 pickup locations as follows: UCHRA Headstart, Greenbriar Apartments, Bethlehem Church of Christ, Cedar Grove Community Center, and Van Buren County High School. The program will also possibly run from July 8th to July 19th depending on participation. Schools had planned on having Professional Development Days on May 21st and May 22nd to use the remainder of stockpile days. Due to the use of Stockpile days last week for Inclement Weather, these days will now operate as Regular Instructional Days Thank You!

High school boys basketball tryouts will be tomorrow (Friday, May 10th) in the high school gym from 3:00-4:30. These tryouts are for any boys who will be in grades 9-12 next school year! If you can't make tryouts tomorrow, but you would like to tryout, contact Coach Sullivan at the high school.

Happy Graduation Season! Van Buren County Schools have three graduations coming up this week and next. Early Bird Preschool will graduate on May 10, 2024, at 8:30 AM in the VBHS Auditorium. SES Kindergarten will graduate on May 16, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the VBHS Gymnasium. VBHS Class of 2024 will graduate on May 17, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the VBHS Gymnasium.

The last day for Early Bird Preschool students to attend school for the 2024 school year will be this Friday, May 10, 2024. Preschoolers will be dismissed from school following Pre-K Graduation on May 10, 2024.
Don't Forget Next Week is Early Bird Preschool Registration. Pre-K Registration will be taking place on Monday, May 13th and Tuesday, May 14th. Please bring the following items: Birth Certificate, Proof of Residency, Proof of Income, Updated Shot Record, and Social Security Card. The child whom you are registering also must attend. Your child must be 4 years old by August 15th. A limited number of 3-year-olds (by August 15, 2024) also may register if spots are available. Please call (931)946-7378 to schedule an appointment.
VB Families and Students: The last day of afterschool for the 2024 school year will be this coming Friday, May 10, 2024. Students will need to ride the bus or be picked up at normal dismissal time starting, Monday, May 13, 2024. Thank you to all the participants in Afterschool this year, it has been a great year!
