Parents and Students: This week begins end-of-year testing for students at VBHS. This is something that our students and teachers have invested a lot of time and effort in over the course of the 2021-2022 school year. As testing takes place, it is imperative that students arrive to school ON TIME each day in an effort to make this process as seamless as possible. Just a reminder, the school day for Middle School students in grades 6-8 begins at 7:50 a.m. The start time for High School students in grades 9-12 is 8:00 a.m. Please ensure that your student is present and on time to make the testing process a successful one. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Van Buren County High School is conducting a survey about school climate and learning in school. Students in 6th-12th grade may participate and have the opportunity to provide feedback about our school. The survey will help us create a safe and supportive school environment that promotes academic success. The survey is voluntary. The survey includes questions about student relationships with teachers, school principals, and other students; school safety, bullying, and substance use; and school rules and the school environment. Students who take the survey may skip any question they do not want to answer or may stop taking the survey at any time. Your child’s teacher will be there to help answer questions. This survey is designed to be anonymous, and your child will be asked not to provide their name or any identifying information. Any personnel who have access to the TN School Climate Survey data are required to maintain the confidentiality of these data. This survey is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE). Around the time of the survey window (and afterwards), you will be able to view all surveys on TDOE’s School Climate webpage. The survey will be administered to students online between April 4 – May 6, 2022. The survey will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. Information regarding this survey is being sent home with every student in 6th-12th grade today. You do NOT have to return this form unless you do NOT want your child to participate. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, sign the form and return it to the school within three days. You may contact Kelly Lewis or the principal with any questions about the survey. You may also contact Josh Carson with the Tennessee Department of Education at Josh.Carson@tn.gov. Thank you. Parents will also have an opportunity to complete a school climate survey to provide feedback during this time frame. Information regarding the parent survey will be sent out at a later time.
