🎉 December Board of Education Meeting – Student Recognition 🎉
At the December Board of Education meeting, we are proud to recognize and honor several outstanding students for their achievements at the Regional Leadership Conference. These students competed by completing online tests in their chosen career-focused categories, representing our district in the lower middle region of the six regions across Tennessee.

Ms. Kristi’s kindergarten students kicked off their shapes unit around Thanksgiving and wrapped it up just in time for Christmas break! Throughout the unit, students worked hard learning to name and identify shapes, showing great focus and determination along the way. We are so proud of all the learning and growth that happened during this fun and festive time of year! 🌟
Van Buren County Schools will be operating on a Two Hour Delay tomorrow morning, December 15th, 2025 due to the expected low temperatures. Thank and stay warm!

This funding will support several important safety upgrades across our district, including:
🛑 Updated fencing at the front of Spencer Elementary
🪜 Installation of stair safety treads throughout campus
🤝 Addition of handrails along the steps in the VBHS auditorium
These improvements help us continue prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community. 💛💙

Our little Eagles jumped in with huge smiles, quick feet, and plenty of giggles as they dodged, kicked, and cheered each other on. You could feel the excitement from across the gym—pure joy, teamwork, and just a whole lot of fun!
It was a fantastic day of movement, laughter, and learning how to play together. We love seeing them grow, try new things, and enjoy every moment! 🩵🔥

This past week, our students have been inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ heartwarming holiday book The Gift of Words. The story reminds us how powerful each of our kind, thoughtful words can be—and how sharing them can bring light, hope, and connection to the world.
After enjoying the story together, every SES student created their own Gift of Word ornament, choosing a positive word they wanted to share with others. These thoughtful, meaningful ornaments now hang proudly on the SES Christmas Tree, spreading joy throughout our school.
