Van Buren County Schools is proud to announce that we have been selected to partner with the Ayers Foundation Trust. Through this exciting partnership, Van Buren County joins several other rural districts across Tennessee in bringing expanded college and career support to students through the nationally recognized Ayers Scholars Program.
As part of this initiative, a full-time Ayers Foundation counselor will be embedded at Van Buren County High School to work directly with students beginning in 8th grade. This counselor will provide personalized guidance on academic planning, scholarship opportunities, FAFSA completion, and career pathways—helping students achieve their goals after graduation, whether that be college, technical school, the workforce, or military service.
This expansion is made possible through a grant from the Governor’s Rural Education Foundation, allowing the Ayers Foundation Trust to extend its reach into seven new rural counties, including Van Buren, where the need for postsecondary access support is great.
The Ayers Foundation Trust has a proven track record of improving college-going rates and postsecondary success in rural communities across the state. By starting early and providing consistent, individualized support, the program equips students with the tools they need to succeed in life beyond high school.
Van Buren County Schools is excited to begin this new chapter and looks forward to the opportunities this program will bring for students and families across the district.
