The Eagles and Eaglettes released their 2023-24 basketball schedules Thursday. This year’s varsity slate features 12 regular-season home games, the annual VBHS Alumni Game and hosting duties for both the District 6A Tournament and Region 3A Tournament.

“The team is excited for the season,” boys’ head coach Dustin Sullivan said. “They’re working hard in practice and getting better every day.”

In addition to the jam-packed home-and-home lineup, the boys’ and girls’ teams are each scheduled to play two Hall of Fame games and a holiday tournament. The Eaglettes will compete in Sale Creek’s Battle at the Creek tournament Dec. 18-20, and the Eagles will travel to Pigeon Forge High School for the King of the Smokies tournament Dec. 27-29.

Following the end of the regular season, VBHS will host the District 6A Tournament. Semifinals are set for Feb. 16 with the finals to follow Feb. 17.

Action returns to Van Buren beginning Feb. 26 for the Region 3A Tournament. After the quarterfinals round is played at high-seed sites, VBHS will host the semifinals and finals Feb. 26-29.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to play two postseason tournaments on our home court,” girls’ head coach Tyler Sapp said. “It’ll be great to play so many crucial games here in font of our home crowd.”

The boys’ junior varsity team is set to play 21 JV contests. It will play 10 games at home and 11 games on the road. All JV games are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with the exception of their Dec. 5 game at Warren County at 6:30 p.m. and its home game against the Pioneers on Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.

Van Buren opens the season Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Oakdale. The first home game of the season is Tuesday, Nov. 21 against Jackson County.
