TITLE I SCHOOL (SES)

The School Wide Program

Spencer Elementary is a Title I School-Wide School, which means the federal funds are received on the basis of the number of students on the free and reduced lunch program. The School-wide program is directed on the school level by a planning committee composed of teachers, administrators, and parents. In addition to the overseeing of existing programs, and projects, the committee makes decisions, based on a needs survey, on how to best use resources available to the school. Any comments or concerns may be directed to the committee by contacting the school (931.946.2171)

Teacher Qualifications

At the beginning of each school year, a district that received Title I funds must notify parents that they may request information about the professional qualifications of their children's classroom teacher. If a parent requests the information, it must include at least whether the teachers have met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas taught: whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status: the baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification. The information must also disclose whether the school is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications. A Title I school must also give timely notice that the parent's child has been assigned or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified.
